Controlling Your Frustration

During the course of the Success Atlas e-zine and just a little so far in this blog - I have shared quite a few personal development tips and techniques on using the good to get better, we’ve stayed up and positive the majority of the time.   However, there is a level of reality that has to be dealt with from time to time.  One of the realities is that frustration is a daily event for most of us.  Still worse it comes in some pretty heavy doses at times.  During times of frustration, whether being dealt in heavy or light doses, we need to know how to deal with our frustrations.   This is an important skill that is neglected in the curriculum of the schools we all attended (at least the ones I was fortunate enough to attend).

The inability to keep you frustration in check and under control will have a greater negative impact on your productivity and quality of output, than the lack of intelligence, creativity, vision or even energy.  In all honesty your unchecked frustration will have a greater impact then all of these qualities combined – that is how important it is.   In addition, frustration has a trickle-down or domino effect on those around you.  This is an important consideration for those of us who are leaders in our organizations (this includes families).  For you see, leaders depend heavily on their staff to help them attain and maintain their success.  If as a leader you do not keep your frustration in check, the natural trickle-down effect of your frustration will cause you to let your feelings leak out onto your staff.   By doing this your literally contaminating the very team you’re depending on for your success.  This brings to mind one word – unwise!
